This tall cabinet originating from Italy is from the late 1800s. Heavily carved, it is divided into two distinct parts. The upper part has two shelves, inviting you to display cherished objects. The pediment is held up by two carved figurines and also decorated with geometric patterns, fruits and foliage. The bottom panel is adorned with carved geometric patterns at the centre of which is a lion’s head - a guardian of this cabinet's history, a regal emblem that bridges art and utility. Two shelves can be seen when we open this bottom panel. The two sides of the bottom panel are flanked by sentinel human torsos, lion faces which have been deeply carved into the surface. Touches of geometric patterns work well as a counterpoint to the foliage patterns.
