This portable bathroom water closet from the early 1900s was the type which served high ranking French officers when they were in the war theatres. Possibly from the WWI, when soldiers were on the go, this so called chest of drawers opens to reveal a vanity counter complete with a washbasin, soap dispenser and tap. It has two drawers above the basin and a place below for storing water. This useful piece, crafted by traditional woodworkers, provides an insight into the demands of battle.
