Through this console table, one may admire the magnificence of late 1800s Italy woodworking. The highlight of the table are the sculptures of two male heads with flowing hair and stylised acanthus leaf beards. Each sits atop a double curved front leg which rests on scrolled ends on a base connecting all the four legs. Below the base the front legs end in mighty lion’s paw feet. The back legs are carved like fluted neoclassical pilasters and rest on blunt arrow feet. Bouquets of emerging leaves from a single flower are carved all along the apron. The neo-classical urn rising from the centre of the table base adds another focal point to the whole piece.
