DESCRIPTION
Originating from late 18th century Burma, this console table showcases the skill of Burmese artisans incorporating western styles of furniture during their Colonial period. The design is bold, the richly carved apron swirls with scrolling patterns. The cabriole legs have pronounced curves ending with large scrolls. The bare chested bearded human figures on the knees of the front legs seem to hold up the pristine marble top whilst a singular face from the centre of the apron stares straight at us. An unusual piece of colonial furniture from Myanmar, this table has presence!
