Designed in the 1970s by the famous Kolkata furniture designer Mazumdar, in his studio, this coffee table is inspired by his exploration of Art Deco geometry albeit in a totally Indian context. The rich heritage of Indian temple architectural columns are reimagined here, resulting in a truly distinctive piece. The table’s skirting has precise geometric carvings running all around. The legs are meticulously carved with alternating cubes and bulbous shapes and its typical temple finial perched on top and raised above the table height attract attention. Cross stretchers tie together the enhancing its stability.
